The year was 2517 A.D. Trillions of humans have settled far along the reaches of the galaxy. Hundreds of planets have been terraformed and colonized by humanity, with thousands of moons and star bases to complement human influence.
Although humanity still had distinctive nations and cultures, peace and art were greatly being promoted throughout human civilization, and discrimination and crime were frowned down upon by the massive weight of the disapproving human population.
Many advances in technology have been made when compared to centuries before, when mankind first truly started becoming an industrial people. Virtual simulators and space ships were seen on an everyday basis. Humanity discovered an ore called Callinite, which had properties of being able to conduct and produce great amounts of energy and solved many of humanity's past energy problems. The strong Dollar, along with the world's currencies, were replaced by a universal currency called Credits.
Nations and their peoples all showed loyalty and obedience under a united banner. The Alliance of Human Domiminions (AHD) served as the United Nations' successor, and acts as a central command for humanity throughout the galaxy.
The year 2517 was a major point in human history, as first contact with an alien race was made.
On January 21, 2517, humanity made first contact with an alien race, the first time humans have discovered another sentient race. Five days prior to contact, Outpost Ember IV discovered a small group of unidentified ships approaching human occupied space. Curious but cautious, Humanity's Space Command sent a small task fleet of ten ships over to assess the situation.
The human ships dropped out of hyperspace to meet five ships of unknown origin. The designs and technology were clearly not man-made. The commander on the task fleet's flagship made the hail, and introduced himself using proper HSC protocol. The alien flagship responded.
With the video link, the humans on-board the human ships were the first to see the aliens. On screen showed a humanoid shaped alien, with very tan skin and two curved horns on his head. He looked very muscular and seemed to wear ornamental white clothing. He smiled, and introduced himself and his ships in a similar fashion. He then stated that he meant no harm, and that he was traveling to this region for a diplomatic mission to contact and introduce his race, the Rhodhaks, to the human race.
And so, within five days, humanity stepped within a new world, and never has it yet found a more massive change to its kind.
